in between a water park and an ice cream shop is paved sidewalk at the beach. if you walked on it without shoes, itd leave marks. it always smelled a certain way when the sun was at its peak. it always reminded me how much i love summer and the beach. i associated that smell with happiness.

today around the same time of day, i was on the side of route seventeen (a busy busy street)pulled off to get some food. i started walking towards the door, and the smell stopped me. it was that same smell. so i closed my eyes, and i was at the beach. until a car horn rudely took me back to the parking lot, where i discovered i was standing behind a car that was trying to pull out.

i gave him the finger, and went and got my food.
